Festivals serve as a profound reflection of cultural heritage. In Taiwan, the four most prominent holidays are the Lunar New Year, Tomb-Sweeping Day, the Dragon Boat Festival, and the Mid-Autumn Festival. Conversely, in Western cultures, Christmas, New Year’s Day, Easter, and Halloween hold significant cultural importance. Despite geographical boundaries, these celebrations share core similarities while exhibiting distinct differences. A major similarity lies in the emphasis on family reunions and renewing hopes. The Lunar New Year and Christmas both prioritize familial gatherings, elaborate feasts, and the exchanging of blessings. While Taiwanese people give "red envelopes" for good fortune, Westerners exchange presents beneath a Christmas tree. Similarly, both cultures celebrate the transition of time—Westerners ring in New Year’s Day with spectacular fireworks and countdown parties, much like the firecrackers utilized during the Lunar New Year to ward off evil spirits.
