News media and journalism outlets influence public opinion and democracy itself so their reach and power is not to be 26 lightly. The press has responsibilities to the public interest. Good journalism is good for democracy, but unfortunately the most popular news feeds in most Western countries have 27 poor-quality sensationalism, which is affecting democracy and undermining society.
